Interesting points.

Long story short: in 20 years this'll be a dead issue anyhow. People who now spew hatred against LGBTQ people are going be denying they ever did, just like Whites who spewed hatred against Blacks were denying they ever did by 1985.

But it is true people now, including some UMCers in the seventies and eighties, in places like Gadsen, Alabama or Lucas, Kansas, would support removing that horrible "practice of homosexuality" language, as long as they don't have to say so in front of haters they know. If we get to decide which way to go by secret ballot, we will find progressive voices from Bend, Oregon, to Sarasota, Florida.

Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove "When Jesus said, 'I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly' in John 10:10, he wasn’t thinking about a victory for those who have used religion to fight back against the gains of the civil rights movement. Jesus was inviting all of us to work together for the vision at the heart of that movement — a beloved community where all people created in God’s image can thrive."
