transperancy is not a historical hallmark of Methodism

It is the result of modern culture. The first conferences convened by John Wesley were very closed in the sense that he only allowed a select number of preachers attend to discern "what we should teach". Once again The American branch of The United Methodist Church does not know and understand its own history. As far as I am concerned, The American UMC is in this mess because it has been too open to "whatever". Methodism is in existence because John Wesley DID NOT allow "whatever" to take root. His was a very focused theology that was not only practical for everyday use but contained different elements from various faith traditions from across 1700 years of Christianity. Methodism is most definitely not a "whatever" religion of Open Hearts, Doors and Minds.
