some degree of hypocracy

Does anyone other than me find it odd that the Traditionalist Plan offers a generous and loving exit strategy whereas the other two proposed plans do not? How are we to interpret that as other than let's stick it to the Traditionalists whose consciences require them to leave but lets be loving and generous to the "progressives" if the Traditionalist plan prevails.

I agree

I have noticed that, too, John. No other plan offers a gracious exit. So much for the narrative that the traditional UMs are mean and nasty.

"Fundamentalist Christians have moved the theological needle so far to the right that the Gospel is said by them to be a 'progressive agenda.' It's not – it's the Gospel. We must keep preaching Jesus' message of the Kingdom of God (over against the kingdoms of this world) rooted in love (not legalism) and aimed toward reconciliation (not division). The Pharisees alleged Jesus' message was a 'liberal agenda.' It wasn't – it was the Gospel."

– The Rev. Dr. Steve Harper in a Facebook post.
