There were problems with both plans

Who said it would be easy or clear cut

To bring a church into alignment with a single doctrine when it has been the better part of a century since its leadership decided what the church collectively is more important than what it collectively believes. Good news is Christianity of the Methodist/Wesleyan persuasion--will never be stopped nor silenced. At its best, it instills a robust belief in God at work in individual lives which then produces robust works. It is Christianity with all the power of God behind it.

Notable Quotes

"When Jesus defined his ministry, he made liberating the captive a focus of his message. Jesus’ gospel is for slave and for the free (Galatians 3:28). It is meant to have a component of liberation. The gospel calls us to advocate for a more just world–to be a voice for the voiceless."

– John D. Barry, a nonprofit CEO, Bible scholar, and pastor, writing in the Jan. 9 issue of Red Letter Christians' Wake Up newsletter.
