Headline: A good man suggests rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Poor Rev. Maxie. He is a good man trying to find the key to change the path of a hurricane. It is not the fault of our church so much as it is the reality of this increasingly immoral world. "Political Correctness" demands that we of old morals and values turn our backs on our own values and submit to the Sodom and Gomorrah vision for the new UMC. Sorry, Maxie, you cannot win. There comes a time that we must take our ball and go home, leaving a very bad game to those who write new rules. With good leaders like you, we can offer support and hope to traditional Methodists, and sweet refuge to obedient believers. We mere humble pewsters are counting on you!

The Bible takes sides.

The Methodist Church split once before over slavery and we all know whose side scriptures were on in that debate. Perhaps it is time to admit that society has moved beyond biblical morality to a better one.

Society is doomed

Once society moves beyond Biblical morality, David, society is doomed. Without Christ and Biblical morality, we devolve either into a dog eat dog world, scurrying like rats on a sinking ship, or into a statist society with no liberty or freedom to think for ourselves. That is not a better society.

The Heart of the matter

David's comment brings us to the heart of the matter. Progressives believe that a society whose morality is designed by humans is superior to a morality designed by God. What more needs to be said!

"The president’s policies violate every faith tradition and moral system alive in America. The Book of Matthew makes the Christian view on this very clear. Jesus says that if we don’t welcome the stranger, we will be condemned eternally. Rejecting the stranger is rejecting God. Islam teaches that those who accept refugees are true believers. Welcoming the stranger is a core principle of Judaism “because we were once strangers.” In fact, our federal and international asylum laws were created in the wake of America’s failures to act during the Holocaust.

"As faith leaders, we call on Congress to reject Trump’s manipulative use of executive power. Time is of the essence for the asylum seekers at our border. The faithful answer for Congress is clear: Support vulnerable people, and do not give one cent of our taxpayer dollars to Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda."
