Spiritual discipline, as in the consistent, open practice of our Christian faith, was one of the key values we identified when United Methodist Insight was founded in 2011. Thanks to the wonder of online publishing, we've been able to hold to that priority throughout our five-plus years.
Again this year, United Methodist Insight will observe what ancient church tradition calls "The Great Silence," a period of contemplation and prayer beginning with Holy Thursday evening and continuing through Easter Sunday morning. We will post no new articles online during this time. Instead we will devote ourselves to prayer and worship services in observance of the passion, death and Resurrection of Jesus, the Christ.
This year, we'll participate in an Easter Vigil service at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at our sponsoring congregation, St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 2520 Oates Drive, Mesquite, Texas. If you're in the greater Dallas area, we invite you to join us in this historical service that marks the liturgical beginning of Easter.
