Nice Reporting

Good catch, excellent analysis of the facts of the matter. The location indeed played a role. Note, though in the Pacific hurricanes are called typhoons but are the same phenomena as hurricanes on our Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

No outraged denials from IRD - perhaps they will be forthcoming. When they do, remember, whenever anyone says, "It's not about the politics," you can rest assured it is. The closest thing in similarity I remember is in 1976 when then Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe, a conservative Democrat, had party officials schedule the Texas Democratic Convention during Yom Kippur. The reasoning was most Jewish delegates, like my friend State Representative Abe Ribak, were liberals and would thus be unable to attend. The comparison to an official political event is deliberate and accurate.
