When I Think of Taking a Knee

It's Childish of You to Change the Subject

Taking a knee at church or at bedtime is not the subject. It's taking a knee while everyone else is saluting the flag or covering their heart while the National Anthem is played. Last Sunday was also Gold Star Mother's Day, remembering those sons lost in defense of our country. What an incredible disrespect by the National Football League! How heartless! You watch the NFL next week - America has something better to do!

My Dear Brother Skipper

Skipper,

I'm sorry you're so angry. I didn't change the subject, you did. I simply said, when I hear the phrase "take a knee" it makes me think of prayer. I could care less about football. If you put a gun to my head and ask me to name a team or players, I'd most certainly die. I don't watch or care for the game. I've always had better things to do than watch football. As for it being childish to talk about Jesus and the cross, I'd rather have a child like faith any day. You brought the topic back to football. I talked about prayer, Jesus, love, and discipleship. That made you angry. I didn't mention football. You did. Let that sink in. I will keep you in my prayers. I love you. I really do. I pray that your anger will be healed. Be a blessing, Richard Bryant

What does one thing have to do with the other???

If taking a knee at bedtime or church is not the subject, then a man kneeling in protest is not about disrespecting the flag or veterans!
This is not a dictatorship (Yet) nor a communist country, we are free to protest, praise, worship, pledge, remain silent, take a knee, scream scripture from the street corner at our loudest....etc. You cannot put a boot on the throat of your fellow American and tell him what to believe.
The protests are obviously striking a nerve because so many are talking about issues that they would rather see left untouched.
Racism is real. Anyone who says it is not or is not a problem in this country is wrong!
The flag will be fine. Veterans are fine. Our country is strong enough to withstand keyboard warriors.
