Hypocritical

It would be hypocritical to keep the biblical wording of the Discipline and turn your back on disobedience. An exit plan for dissenters is a must. The Traditional Plan is our best hope.

Korean scenario

He wants to leave our official position the way it is but let people disobey it whenever they choose. This is how we got where we are now. All he wants is a piece of paper to reassure Koreans that The UMC does not condone gay marriage. Does he think his church members are deaf dumb and blind? This is not a way forward. It is a road off a cliff.

Notable Quotes

Retired Bishop William Willimon“Part of being in a church is to be with people that you don’t agree with and many of whom you don’t like. As a bishop, I should be the person saying, ‘I’m going to make it as hard as I can for [this division to occur].’”

– Retired Bishop Will Willimon, quoted in the Duke Chronicle, the student newspaper of UMC-related Duke University.
