Guarantees UMC as a Regional Denomination

I see the Traditional Plan passing. I don't like and I think its wrong discriminatory and against the Christ who didn't abandon anyone but called all unto him. That being said. Three possible responses from the Left. One congregations that are liberal will simply refuse pastoral appointments that are traditional. Two conferences will begin to find fewer and fewer younger people pursuing ministry because discrimination is simply not as tolerated by younger people as it has been by older generations. Three, Liberals act out in civil disobedience and through it make the General Church kill itself by a thousand cuts. I don't see liberal conferences or congregations leaving. I see them choosing to stay and fight. The Traditional win will only continue the fight but at a more up tempo pace in preparation for the next General Conference. Plus we are seeing the cracking of the African/ Conservative alliance. There is growing concern that Africans are being treated as colonies of Color by the conservative church and there are voices who are finally questioning being used to fracture the church. So yeah conservatives win but they set the destruction of the Church long term through shattering its connection into a thousand pieces.

The Traditional Plan

only works if there are strong restrictions against liberal beIhavior and even stronger accountability throughout all levels of leadership. Without such accountability, leaders aren’t doing their jobs and should be let go immediately. Such actions must be swift and not bog down the path of the church in drawn out trials appeals, etc.

The Traditional Plan isn’t discriminatory, it simply makes a large scale reset of what we United Methodists believe. This reset is long overdue. If individuals can’t agree to the traditional views, there are plenty of liberal churches elsewhere. It is like saying a sports team is discriminatory because they only use talented players. It’s a false narrative. If the Traditional Plan is adopted the UMC won’t be abandoning anyone either Again, the UMC has the right to say this is what we believe just as Christ told others what God wanted for his people. Was Christ discrimnatory because he didn’t includ pagan messages in his lessons? Of course not! Neither will the UMC be discrimnatory for not including messages that don’t align with God’s Word.

Traditional Support to pass Constitutional Amendments

You still have not addressed how you will get the super-majority of the conferences to support the needed constitutional changes needed to implement the plan. General Conference cannot unilaterally change the constitution. It requires a super-majority of annual conferences approving the changes. There are not enough conferences in the US supporting the Traditional plan outside of the SE US. So what is the plan to get the needed votes from at least some liberal conferences devoid of an evangelical presence sufficient to control their process?

You’re probably right

So that means we are left with conservatives leaving the UMC and beginning a new denomination with a new constitution. Let’s face it the progressives have left conservatives withno other option. The conservatives can’t and won’t sacrifice our values by supporting any plan that allows LGBT clergy or homosexual marriage. That only leaves two options - progressives joining with conservatives to reach the necessary super majorities,OR conservatives leaving God Bless our path forward, whichever path we go.

So why put millions through this?

Why then are millions being put through this for the benefit of a vocal few who choose to actively discriminate? Why not just leave? This seems really backwards.

Hmmm

That guy seems calm, cool and collected. He planted the seeds of the eventual strategy but checked all the boxes of things that needed to be said. Not anything like the progressive posters running around like it’s finals week and they haven’t been studying.

The only hope for the UMC is the

Traditional Plan. The progressives and their harmful positions must be phased out of the UMC so that God’s Word can be shared truthfully with all of God’s children. Whereas I know and love many progressives, I do not share their understanding of God’s Word and I believe their positions to be in direct opposition to what God wants for us. I don’t believe there can be any compromise with progressives. It would be like compromising with someone on jumping off a cliff. I couldn’t just jump part way down. You either don’t jump at all or you are all in for the whole jump. Same with compromising over God’s Word, you either stand firm with God’s Word or displease Him by going down another path. We must stand firm with God’s Word.

Notable Quotes

The Rev. Dr. William Barber II    “Now I know somebody's out there saying, 'Well, did you get that from the Democrats? Did you get that from the progressives?' No, I got it from the Bible. Jesus said that every nation is going to be judged by how it treats the poor, how it treats the least of these, how it treats the sick and the hungry and in prisons. I got it from the prophets that Jews, Muslims and Christians honor. Isaiah 10 said: Woe unto those who legislate evil and rob the poor of their rights and make women and children their prey.”

– The Rev. William Barber II, co-chair of the Poor People's Campaign, quoted from its June 20, 2020 online rally that drew some 1 million viewers.
