Outcomes

I suppose the rules for voting these plans and petitions will be established and that could be an interesting squabble. Whatever happens at GC 2019 it looks like The UMC coming out will not be the same UMC that went in. If this Way Forward is not settled we can look forward to even more infighting. Settle it so we can all make our personal choices and move on.

Notable Quotes

Retired Bishop William Willimon“Part of being in a church is to be with people that you don’t agree with and many of whom you don’t like. As a bishop, I should be the person saying, ‘I’m going to make it as hard as I can for [this division to occur].’”

– Retired Bishop Will Willimon, quoted in the Duke Chronicle, the student newspaper of UMC-related Duke University.
