Good luck with that

When it comes to the American United Methodist Church, I have my own tale of hurt, frustration and disenfranchisement. And I am a white heterosexual female. (My problems with the church are strictly spiritual and have absolutely nothing to do with my race, gender or sexuality.) Currently, the denominational and local leadership is too busy trying to keep the church afloat and they do not have time to listen to anybody's story from the pew.

What kind of friend will I be?

I will be a true friend and tell the truth. The truth is same-sex relationships are sinful. To tell someone they are not sinning in this respect is so unloving and untruthful. The Bible is clear about this. Jesus directed us to repent, which means to turn from sin. We don't want to trap people in sin when God wants them to repent and be forgiven.

Except

The assertion "The truth is same-sex relationships are sinful" is not based on facts, instead it is a statement of opinion devoid of evidence and informed by prejudice..

Notable Quotes

Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata preaches on the healing power of love at the April 26 evening service at the 2012 General Conference."To be God’s people is to be reminded that God is the Creator of each of us. We are all part of the human family. And in our human relationships we come face-to-face with a wide and wonderfully diverse family of individuals each unique but each beloved by God. Although we do not always agree, I believe it is important for us to know that we hold more in common with one another than any differences that keep us from caring for one another."
