Interesting times

I'm not sure of the wording but supposedly an ancient Chinese curse is "may you live in interesting times." We certainly do.

I'm actually solidly impressed with multiple recent events within the UMC despite the gnashing of teeth by the forces of reaction. It's hard to anticipate what will happen next. We in the hinterlands rely on sources like United Methodist Insight to keep us informed and for that I sincerely thank you.

A year ago, I would not have predicted the forces within the UMC for the advancement of justice and inclusion would've had the fight in them it would take to achieve as much as they have in so short a time. What a pleasant surprise the advancement of human progress has occurred as it has! When one considers the odds, it is truly magnificent.

What the forces for justice have done can truly be a model for others. Year after year, the right-wing cauci have whined about demonstrations and resolutions, and yet, finally, the walls come tumbling down. It's a clear illustration of Gandhi's dictum, "First they laugh at you. Then they attack you. Then you win."
