In the upcoming weeks, Resist Harm is going to be featuring stories of people sharing the light of Christ. Stories of people, groups, organizations and churches of #DoingGood. Stories of how the people of #ResistHarm are in ministry to the community during this pandemic. If you would like to learn more about our focus this month, go to https://resistharm.com/events/light. Point Washington UMC (Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference) is located in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Several years ago the Point Washington Medical Clinic was founded at Point Washington UMC. It is a FREE medical clinic which offers “Radically Inclusive Healthcare. ALL patients are accepted. ALL ages are accepted. No documents, no pay statements, no insurance, no problem. “
Dr. Hillary Glenn, one of the founders writes, “We are making every effort to continue to serve our patients while maintaining their safety and the safety of all of our volunteers during this pandemic. Some of the measures we have implemented include outside screening, registration through telephone, telemedicine visits and SARS-CoV-2 testing. The flow of clinic is very different now and reminds us a bit of the work we did for Hurricane Michael relief where we are seeing patients outside and under tents!
"We have initiated drive and park screening. Patients park, call the clinic and are registered as a patient over the phone by our volunteers who are safely inside the “clinic.” Next, the providers (in full PPE) assess the patient either in their car or under a tent. If the patient is symptomatic, and the provider deems it necessary, they may be tested for the following tests: Influenza, Strep and/or SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
"In an attempt to minimize risk, swabs are done outside or in the patient’s car. Strep and Flu tests are run outside in a covered station by volunteer nurses and SARS-CoV-2 is sent out to our lab partner. For our existing patients needing a routine visit (for example a visit for a refill on medications for chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes or thyroid conditions), we have initiated telemedicine.

Port Washington Sign
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. – A sign at Port Washington UMC shows the schedule for COVID-19 testing at its free health clinic.
"We have added a day for COVID screening only and are complying with local and state health department reporting requirements regarding the number of tests performed and the positive notifications. As one of a very few local testing sites in our county, we are serving our patient population as well as the broader community that normally visit their primary care physicians for lab tests. We are proud to be making our community safer through testing and education.”
Thank you Point Washington Medical Clinic and Point Washington UMC for being committed to radical inclusion for ALL and the difference you are making in the community! For more information about the Point Washington Medical Clinic go to https://thepwmc.org.
