Hosea 1:2-10; Psalm 85; Col. 2:6-15 (16-19); Luke 11:1-13
Prayer is a sincere and continual communication with God where God’s holiness is recognized, where one expresses gratitude, makes petitions, confesses, and asks forgiveness for sins, and where one searches for guidance and direction. It is a personal relationship with God where one speaks, listens, and searches for God’s will.
We see in the first verse: He was praying in a certain place, and prayer was important for Jesus. Prayer was a constant part of the Jesus’ earthly ministry. And his disciples make a petition. “Lord, teach us to pray.” Jesus gives them a model prayer known as the Lord’s Prayer or the Our Father. It begins by sanctifying the name of God, giving it a place of divine majesty. Sanctifying the name of God everyday of our lives is part of the growth and of the communion with our Lord.
It then recognizes that only God has the power of being anywhere, as much in heaven as on earth: Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. In other words Jesus knows that the disciples and now we need the Kingdom of God on earth, because as believers God’s Kingdom is something that makes us grow in faith in order to continue reaching out to new disciples of Jesus Christ. And, above all, we need to work for God’s Kingdom y expand it through all the earth.
In this prayer Jesus teaches that we should ask for daily provision – daily bread. Give us each day our daily bread. We are to put trust in God who is the one that provides and blesses our bread. Even though there is a plate of food, we know that sooner or later God is going to provide, and we should have the hope that God is working in our favor. It is important that we recognize we fail God, we offend God, and we offend others. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. To ask to forgive our sins and failings is a command from Jesus Christ. But at the same time he demands that we forgive as well. Because many times we human beings we God’s forgiveness and the forgiveness of others, but find it difficult to forgive others when they have offended us. Jesus knew that it was necessary to prepare his disciples to ask for and to give forgiveness – which invites us to make a commitment that we also forgive those who offend us. In this prayer is included all that you and I need to be in constant harmony with God and neighbor. But, at the same time, it warns us that we are vulnerable to falling into temptation and only God can free us from evil. And do not bring us to the time of trial but rescue us from evil. Forgiving those who have offended us is essential for our relationship with God and for God’s forgiveness. We should forgive as God forgives.
In this model prayer, Jesus uses the parable of the friend to illustrate the importance of perseverance in prayer, emphasizing that God listens and responds – not out of obligation, but out of love and a desire to give the most beautiful things that are in God’s heart. Jesus compares the goodness of the Heavenly Father, assuring that God who is infinitely good will give all that is asked for and especially if the Holy Spirit is asked for. So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. The response to prayer par excellence is the gift of the Holy Spirit. how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! It is the Holy Spirit who equips us to live and Christian life and who guides us in the will of God. Jesus assures that God in God’s infinite goodness will respond to our petitions and especially if it deals with something that we need to grow closer to God and to live in accordance with God’s will.
In conclusion, learning to pray requires practice, commitment, responsibility, and above all faith. We should dedicate time to prayer, to have a personal relationship with God; not to discourage us. If God does not respond immediately, we must persevere trusting in God’s goodness and God’s timing. Our petitions have to made in faith knowing that God listens to us and give us what we ask for, especially the Holy Spirit that equips us to live a life that is pleasing to God, and to have a continuing intimacy with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. La oración es una comunicación sincera y continua con Dios, donde se reconoce su santidad, se le expresa gratitud, se hacen peticiones, se le confiesan y se le pide perdón por los pecados, y se busca su guía y dirección. Es una relación personal con Dios, donde se le habla, se le escucha, y se busca su voluntad.
Vemos en el primer versículo 1 Jesús estaba orando en un lugar y la oración era importante para Jesús, la oración fue una parte constante del ministerio terrenal de Jesús. y sus discípulos hacen una petición. Señor, enséñanos a orar, Jesús les da una oración modelo conocida como “El Padrenuestro”. Que comienza santificando en nombre de Dios, darle lugar a la majestad divina y santificar el Nombre de Dios todos los días de nuestra vida, es parte del crecimiento y de la comunión con nuestro Señor.
Reconocer que solo Dios tiene el poder de estar en cualquier lugar, tanto en el cielo como en la tierra; 2 Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra. En otra palabras Jesús sabe que los discípulos y ahora nosotros necesitamos el Reino de Dios en la tierra, porque como creyentes su Reino es algo que nos hace crecer en fe, para seguir alcanzando nuevos discípulos y discípulas de Jesucristo, y sobre todo necesitamos trabajar para su Reino y expandirlo por toda la tierra.
También en esta oración Jesús enseña a que pidamos de la provisión diaria, del pan de cada dia, 3 El pan nuestro de cada día, dánoslo hoy. Poner la confianza en Dios que es el que provee y bendice nuestro pan; aunque no haya un plato de comida, sabemos que tarde o temprano Dios va a proveer y debemos de tener la esperanza de que Dios está obrando a nuestro favor. También es importante que reconozcamos que le fallamos y que ofendemos a Dios y a los demás, Y perdónanos nuestros pecados, porque también nosotros perdonamos a todos los que nos deben. Pedir perdón a Dios por nuestros pecados y culpas es un mandato de Jesucristo; pero a la vez nos demanda a que perdonemos nosotros también, porque muchas veces los seres humanos queremos el perdón de Dios y de las demás personas, pero que difícil es perdonar a otros, cuando nos han ofendido, Jesús sabía que era necesario preparar a sus discípulos para pedir y dar el perdón; lo que nos invita a que hagamos un compromiso de que nosotros también perdonemos a quienes nos ofenden, en esta oración está incluido todo lo que usted y yo necesitamos para estar en una armonía constante con Dios y el prójimo, pero a la vez nos advierte que somos vulnerables a caer en tentaciones y solo Dios puede librarnos del mal. 5 Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal. Perdonar a quienes nos han ofendido es esencial para nuestra relación con Dios y para su perdón, debemos perdonar como Dios perdona.
En este modelo de oración , Jesús utiliza la parábola del amigo para ilustrar la importancia de la perseverancia en la oración, enfatizando que Dios escucha y responde, no por obligación, si no por su amor y deseo de dar lo más hermoso que hay en su corazón. Jesús compara la bondad del Padre Celestial, asegurando que Dios, quien es infinitamente bueno, dará todo lo que pidan y especialmente si piden el Espíritu Santo. 9 Y yo os digo: Pedid, y se os dará; buscad, y hallaréis; llamad, y se os abrirá. 10 Porque todo aquel que pide, recibe; y el que busca, halla; y al que llama, se le abrirá . La respuesta a la oración por excelencia es el don del Espíritu Santo, ¿cuánto más vuestro Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a los que se lo pidan? Es el Espíritu Santo quien nos capacita para vivir una vida cristiana y nos guía en la voluntad de Dios. Jesus asegura que Dios en su infinita bondad, responderá a nuestras peticiones y especialmente si se trata de algo que necesitamos para acercarnos a su presencia y vivir conforme a su voluntad.
En conclusión, aprender a orar requiere practica, compromiso, responsabilidad y sobre todo fe, debemos dedicar tiempo a la oración, para tener una relación personal con Dios, no nos desanimarnos, si no nos responde de inmediato, hay que perseverar confiando en la bondad y el tiempo de Dios, nuestras peticiones tienen que ser con fe, sabiendo que él nos escucha y nos da lo que pidamos, especialmente el Espíritu Santo que nos capacita para vivir una vida que le agrade a Dios y a si tener un continua intimidad con el Padre, el Hijo y Espíritu Santo de Dios. Amen.
