I would agree that God wants us to slow down. But I would disagree that this has anything to do with climate change of liberation theology. God wants us to slow down and know that "I am God." God wants us to slow down and return to Him instead of our materialism, our sexual immortality, and our idolatry. To pretend we know the mind of God is to sin as Eve sinned in the garden of Eden. This is about humanities rejection of God and God wanting us to pay attention. We have rejected love of God for love of humanity. We have rejected God for the love of discord, the love of the Earth over the Creator, and the love of self over all else. Is this a wake up call, Yes. God is knocking but will we answer. The United Methodists (UM) people proclaim to make disciples but discipleship is no where to be found. UM embrace cheap grace (Bonhoeffer) over repentance, obedience, and discipline. Remember, "if My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn away from their wicked ways. . . I will heal their land" (adapted from 2 Chronicles 7:14).
