NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) has the responsibility of proposing a quadrennial budget to fund ministries of The United Methodist Church. Preparing the budget includes analyzing all petitions that have financial implications for the Church.
The latest proposal of changes to the denomination called the Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation (the Protocol) requests that GCFA provides a report about the financial implications based on the proposed configuration of the United Methodist denomination put forth by the Protocol. The Protocol does not yet have related legislation nor has any legislation yet been submitted to General Conference related to the Protocol. GCFA will review all legislation for financial implications through our standard review process and will review all proposed legislation as part of the normal preparation for presenting the budget.
“These are times that call for careful and prayerful consideration of all the factors that will impact the Church. A review of all legislation is part of our work of preparing and presenting the budget to the delegates of the General Conference,” said Moses Kumar, General Secretary and Treasurer.
GCFA will provide more information about the financial impact after all legislation is received and reviewed at the Board Meeting to be held March 9-10.
