Pushed Too Far This Time

Richard,

Liberals have pushed too far this time. Breaking rules like there's no tomorrow. We have is a situation of Liberals behaving badly. They break any rule they don't like without realizing that rules are there to help you. They don't show respect for other people or democratic process, that is rule by majority.

A homosexual bishop was elected yet they prevented her removal. Then the General Conference passed a motion that made marrying a person of the same sex proof a person has homosexual behavior. Yet she still has not been removed. The system is not working. That's why Traditional Methodists are a majority, yet have no voice. Traditional Methodists want to honor God and show our God the respect He is due. We can't do that with people pushing and shoving the rules to get their way while bending to cultural influences.

Better separate than divided and no witness to a hurting world

I disagree with you. We should not stay together for the sake of staying together. It has been miserable for all for decades and only getting more painful. We can do much more separate and provide ministry and hope to all in the name of Jesus. One would only have to calculate all the vast, and I do mean vast, amounts of money and time that has been spent on this great divide to see how pointless it would be to delay the inevitable outcome. If we truly care about helping a hurting world, we will stop this and move forward and get back to showing God's love and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Only those who are concerned about money and power seem to be the ones resistant to see the writing on the wall. We have already lost many good people and are becoming a laughing stock to the "unchurched" of the world. We must give up pride and do what is right. We can not keep doing this and expect to have a different outcome.

This isn't a debate about sexuality, its a debate about the authority of the Bible.

Its a BIG deal if you decouple Christianity from the Word of God...period, full stop. John Wesley would call the Progressive UMC a dead sect. He even predicted it could happen. It wasn't a compliment.

Makes me doubt organized religion, and God

I'm not sure organized religion really works anymore. While the reach of a denomination like the UMC could be substantial in helping others, spreading the Word, etc, we are instead just fighting each other.

I don't see any of God's work in that.

Makes me doubt whether I should even be a Christian.

The last year took me from a true believer to a doubting Thomas. Nah, even Thomas had greater faith than I have at the moment.

The Present Situation is unfortunate JR, but

God gave us the Bible – it is our hope – so focus on it!
Isaiah 45:5 “I am the LORD, and there is no other, there is no God but Me.”
Isaiah 55:11 “...My Word that comes from My mouth
will not return to Me empty . . .”
Isaiah 43:2 “I will be with you when you pass through the waters...”

Two of my mother's favorite verses:
Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky proclaims the work of His hand.”
Psalm 121:1-2 “I will raise my eyes toward the mountains.
Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Weird.

He seems to want to think that he doesn’t want what he campaigned for.
