Back by popular demand, The United Methodist Church: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow!
This small group study, created by the Alabama-West Florida Reconciling Ministries Team, helps fill the void many were feeling in understanding the situation within the United Methodist Church. Although everyone brings their own biases, the team designed the study to be non-dualistic, truthful and helpful to anyone trying to understand the political turmoil in the UMC. The people who designed the study are all people who plan to stay in the UMC and hope for a more just, diverse and inclusive future.
The United Methodist Church: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow study was enthusiastically received by laity and clergy from West Texas to the Congo the first time it was offered last Spring. Participants spoke of how helpful it was to them and how it inspired them to teach it in their small groups and churches. Based on this success, we have three exciting offerings:
- We will be repeating The UMC: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow on Zoom every Thursday night in October from 6:30-7:30 PM Central Time. After each regular session, we will offer an extra half-hour for study leaders to answer any additional questions and to provide coaching tips to empower those who might like to facilitate this study in a class or other group. Join us on October Thursdays by registering in advance here. Act quickly because space is limited!
- A workbook has been created and published for the study. Download a free PDF here, or purchase print copies on Amazon.
- Finally all the videos from the study are available to watch at any time free of charge on our AWF RMN YouTube channel which can be found here.
If you are in an area where you could use a little help explaining the situation and why staying with the UMC is important, we hope this will be a valuable tool for you as we all continue to strive to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Blessings,
THE AWF Reconciling Ministries Team
