Women of faith descended on the border town of McAllen on June 27 to demand that the Trump Administration permanently end family separation and immediately reunify those that have been separated.
The Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO of Faith in Public Life, issued an email statement:
"My heart breaks for the children and families at the Customs and Border Protection Processing Center in McAllen, Texas. As I stood outside the building where children are being kept in cages, I prayed with more than a dozen other women of faith that God tear down the walls.
"The Trump Administration’s “Zero Tolerance” policy has created a humanitarian crisis at the border. As a community of faith, we must resist."
Rev. Butler's statement continued: "Every person is created in the image of God and is sacred. Parents should not be criminally prosecuted for doing what any parent would do: bringing their child to safety. This nightmare for families will only end when Trump permanently stops his shameful and immoral prosecution policy."
