WASHINGTON —Eight Christian denominations will cosponsor a free online seminar Sept. 27 to share knowledge and resources on climate change from a faith perspective. Participants will learn how to take action in their homes, neighborhoods, churches and communities, plus how to advocate before policymakers on behalf of the environment.
The Christian Climate Training, which is part of the Blessed Tomorrow Climate Ambassador Program, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. It is hosted jointly by The United Methodist Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church, American Baptist Churches USA, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, National Baptist Church USA, Presbyterian Church USA, The Episcopal Church, and United Church of Christ, in partnership with Blessed Tomorrow.
“We are called by our faith to care for all that is sacred, which includes the earth and all creatures great and small,” writes event organizers at Blessed Tomorrow, who describe the training as “free, practical, inspiring, backed by science, and rooted in faith.”
The event will equip attendees with “the knowledge, hands-on experience, and resources to speak and take action on climate change in your home, neighborhood, congregation, community, with policymakers, and beyond.” It is open to all but focused on the United States. Closed captioning will be provided.
At the end of the training, attendees can join “the vibrant online community of thousands of fellow Climate Ambassadors to learn from and collaborate with,” according to Blessed Tomorrow. “You will be supported with regular climate advocacy opportunities, networking events, and workshops, and have access to the slides from this training and additional resources developed exclusively for Ambassadors.”
