We are excited to share these four opportunities to advance climate justice!
Tell Senate to prioritize climate justice in the Build Back Better Act!

United Methodist Women members and friends have been urging Congress to pass ambitious climate legislation. Through your emails, calls and meetings, Congress has passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, recently signed into law. That alone will not curb the climate crisis. The Build Back Better Act (BBBA) is critical to fund and support climate funding. The House just passed BBBA, and the Senate needs to hear your voice urging them to pass BBBA. Please contact your Senators to prioritize climate justice in the BBBA and encourage five friends to do the same. You can use this link: https://p2a.co/fpd9ujd or text UMW Climate to 52886

Transit equity day is honored every year on Rosa Park’s birthday, February 4th. Transit equity seeks to highlight the connections with racial justice and economic justice with climate justice and transit. If you care about clean air, just transportation, or transit equity, this is a great time to get more involved!
Join a training meeting organized by the TED coalition to find out how you can participate in next February’s Transit Equity Day: Wednesday Dec 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. You can learn more and register here.
Wanting to get more involved around transit equity or clean transportation? Please let us know, even if you cannot make the meeting. We are trying to collect a list of those interested in clean air, just transportation, and transit equity.
Urge EPA to Stop Methane Pollution
Some 2.9 million children attend schools within half mile of oil and gas facilities that risk their health.
Recently, the EPA has written new rules to cut fracking's climate & toxic air pollution and is currently accepting public comments. United Methodist Women members and friends have been urging the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce methane and other harmful pollutants from new and existing sources in the oil and natural gas industry. Please let EPA know why you want the strongest methane protections possible through the following actions. To see how your state is impacted by methane, type in your zip code in the Oil and Gas Threat map here.
Sign up to speak at the public hearing taking place Nov 30 and Dec 1. You can request a particular date and timeframe to speak. Please make sure to identify yourself with United Methodist Women. Once you sign up, please share your date and time with us, and let us know if you’d like to receive feedback on your statement. You can sign up here. You can find more information and a template for statements here.
Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 4-5 p.m. ET for a training session around methane, submitting public comments, LTES, and op-eds. Register here
