Do you have a photo that tells a story about water justice? As part of the Lenten campaign “Seven Weeks for Water”, the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) is promoting a photo contest on Instagram encouraging people to share images of water in their daily lives.
EWN advocates for water justice, focusing and situations where people don't have access to water. "Seven Weeks for Water” started in 2008 as a collection of weekly reflections and other resources on water.
This year, the focus of the campaign is the Middle East.
During the last three weeks of the 2016 campaign, EWN wants to create a platform where photo enthusiasts worldwide can share images of water and interact with each other. Each photo has a story behind it — a story that represents a step on our collective pilgrimage of justice and peace.
The EWN photo contest will be from March 7 – 27 and is open to all people who use Instagram, a free online mobile photo-sharing service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them publicly through a variety of social networking platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr.
To join the contest, post pictures that show how water is important in your life or how you perceive the abundance or scarcity of this natural resource around you. And, if you believe that water is somehow related to issues of justice and peace, show us how!
It is important to use the hash tag #7Weeks4Water when you post your images.
The WCC team will select the best pictures and republish them in WCC social media channels, giving you credit for the image. Winners will be announced on 1 April.
