You miss the point

But then most church professionals do. The problem is not Christians endorsing capitalism as the better alternative. Where Christianity in America is falling way short is that it is not doing an adequate or consistent job of connecting individuals to God and to each other in a life changing relationship that enables them to live an abundant and productive life that shows care and respect for others regardless of their circumstances. I know this for a fact because I grew up in multiple Methodist/United Methodist Churches who consistently pointed to the one and only never changing, everlasting triune creator God who was a He; and I had no doubt that referring to God as a He was something greater than a human he. But I never understood what any of this had to do with my life until the church left me so broken and confused that I was forced to wander off. That is when I finally discovered the existence of the triune creator God of holy love who is most definitely worth worshiping. I am now unsure how to relate to The United Methodist Church which now points to a god who is he/she and he/she is now unsure about his/her intent when it comes to sexual relations.

I am no longer surprised that people are not choosing to become United Methodists. Life in this imperfect world is confusing and hard enough without adding a confused church into the mix! Along with the rest of mainline Protestant Christianity, The United Methodist Church is coming unhinged because it can no longer clearly articulate the basic concept of what God intended when He created humanity as two distinct genders, male and female, and instructed them to go forth, be fruitful and multiply. When it comes to The United Methodist Church, I do not know what the future holds. But I have many days where I hope that if the United Methodist Church comes seriously unwound that there is not another church in my future because church has made Christianity way more confusing and harder than it really is. Turns out, Christianity is not rocket science, which is exactly what it felt like with the church's ambiguous teaching, it is simply unfathomable.
