It's About Jesus, or It's Nothing.

I spent my life as a United Methodist

I thought I was living out the Christian tradition I was handed. I didn't get left in the ditch by either the left or the right; it was because the Methodist/United Methodist Church lost the ability to share any sort of gospel message in a clear and coherent fashion. My source ended up being the historic Heidelberg Catechism. I was stunned at the amount of theology rank and file 17th century Germans were exposed to. All I ever received were random dribs and drabs that left me living in a murky middle caught between God and the world, And as John Wesley so accurately stated that is a miserable place to live. I am no longer surprised that people are no longer choosing to become church people. All I ever got was way too much church and not near enough Jesus! And yes, the sexuality question is very important. At the very least the church needs to get off the fence. I do not believe there is anything to be gained from a church who says God has no clue why he created us male and female.

Jesus accepted Eunuchs

If we read Matthew 19, Jesus did seem very accepting of Eunuchs, which in a sense are neither male nor female.

"Christian tradition"

Hi Betsy,

"I thought I was living out the Christian tradition I was handed."

Same here. The point of the article is that following the previous tradition just isn't enough. We have to do more. Dream bigger. Go all in with Jesus.

The sexuality issue is really a non-issue. Shake it off and go forward.
We've become complacent. One-day-a-week churchers, and we need to be more. Regardless of age, marital status, gender, race, sexuality, etc. - be bigger than we've been. Be more 'in for the Lord' than we've been.

The old ways don't really carry through anymore.
Love one another fully.
Use all the talents the Lord has given us.

"I do not believe there is anything to be gained from a church who says God has no clue why he created us male and female."

I would instead counter with, why would a God who has such great power of creation be so small as you suggest?
