I don't know what to pray for

Because it is hard to know what is the best way forward when a church has degenerated into factions jockeying for position and control because it has become mired down in theological plurality.. I also have my doubts that one more General Conference will put an end to this controversy. Why should it, when it hasn't been able to for almost 47 years?

If I may put a slightly different slant on Dr. Jeremy’s (progressive) advice…

I, on the other hand, will reach out to traditional United Methodists in my life and ask how I can be a support or ally to them. (In my opinion) Traditional Methodists are the ones most talked about, most affected, most criticized for holding true to the traditions, values, morals and teachings of the way our spiritual leaders taught those for centuries.
Engage a new spiritual practice? No, thanks. I’ll stay with what my mother and father, the preachers, teachers, school leaders, Navy chaplains and common sense taught me over many years.
Make a plan? I live it. I am attending one of those big non-denominational churches until my old Methodist church returns to being my old Methodist church. It’s the same Bible, the same rules, much the same music (only a little more country), but too big for a covered dish supper. I would love to come home…
Dr. Jeremy, why don’t you put as much time and effort into accepting the inevitable as you do preaching progressive values to we who do not agree? Why not help us with a fair divorce rather than trying to save a marriage that is unfair and upsetting to those in the middle?

The Way Forward???

None of the three plans are acceptable unless you are willing to scrap the 7th commandment and just let everyone engage in whatever sexual practice they want. http://www.livingout.org/the-bible-and-ssa, additionally, since Jesus Christ is God in the Trinity it would be blasphemy to say that He approves of what has become the LGBTQ... social agenda. Certainly we all fall short and are sinners but to alter the words and meaning of scripture to appeal to base human nature is apostacy. I pray that the UMC does not go down the same road that many other mainstream denominations have. Just because they jump off a bridge does not mean that we have to do likewise. I applaud those denominations that as sinners, welcome all 'sinners' to join them in accepting the gift of salvation and rejoice in the words of Christ, 'your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more'...
