There's a Fly in the Ointment

The problem is God's Standards don't change. That's because God doesn't change. God doesn't need us to take His place. We either accept and obey His teachings, or we formulate our own, as in the Progressive Movement. That's a very dangerous thing to do, because you wind up opposing God.

And the same thing goes for Christian theology. This is what I heard in a class: We are not here to make theology, but to accept it so we can benefit from it in our lives. Yes, it's very tempting to make our own rules, but so much better to look to God of our direction. His road map of life is so much better than our own! We need to follow Jesus and obey! That's when we become His disciple and follower ourselves and give God the Glory!

Is there?

I'd simply note that lots of stuff in the New Testament expands upon or entirely contradicts stuff in the Old Testament. The conclusion I draw from this is that the requirements God provides for us evolve as our awareness and society has evolved.

Or perhaps the message was understood imperfectly first go-around and Jesus was trying to set things straight. Interesting to think about, isn't it?
