Respect the Vote, Respect the Voters

Maybe practice what you preach?

I don't support Trump; I don't support Biden. They both have serious character flaws. They're both opportunists who have difficulty accepting and disseminating the truth. One trampled over his fellow citizens as a real-estate developer. The other trampled over citizens while seeking power during 5 decades in Washington. But how do you possibly plead for others to respect voters when you mince no words in expressing your utter contempt for one man without even the slightest rebuke of the other. Respect the voters? Which voters? All of them? Or only the small majority who cast a vote for Biden? Because your language doesn't leave much room for indicating respect for those who either voted FOR Trump or AGAINST Biden. It's not all that far from painting them as a "basket of deplorables." Please, respect ALL persons as flawed, broken divine-image bearers. I think that's what Jesus would want us to do.

Thank you and well put

Well put. I am tired of hearing that I must get behind Biden when people refused to do so for Trump, who was also duly elected President. Instead of respecting the process, people yelled foul and belittled those who voted for him. If Trump accomplished one thing, it was to tear the nice facade of America and reveal just how divided and broken we really are. Something Joe Biden's smiling face and verbal schmoose will not be able to fix. At this point, the only thing we can find common ground with is that we are all hopelessly broken and in desperate need of God's most amazing grace.

"[The United Methodist Church] is dying. And it is because we are not certain we believe the world needs Jesus. But if the world doesn’t need Jesus, it surely doesn’t need us.
The world doesn’t need us to do something for it. The need is far more desperate and devastating than that. We are not enough. We never have been enough, even in our glory days. The world needs – people need – a relationship with God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

What Trump made apparent

Is just how divided we are in our basic understandings of just about everything including how America is designed to function. If we never question whether or not the electoral process is functioning as it should, how will we ever know that it is not?

Respect the vote

This author does not understand that we are a Republic of 50 states. Those "loopholes" in the Constitution are there to protect our rights.
