Why I question the helpfulness of the Way Forward Commission

You leave the commission stating that "just resolution" in the case of this homosexual pastor is the answer for a unified UMC. Meanwhile, Tom Lambrecht, who also serves on the Way Forward Commission, writes this article with this title "Another Complaint, No Consequences". Here is the opening paragraph:

"As has become all too common, another complaint against a pastor for celebrating a same-sex wedding has been resolved without any discipline. In other words, the case has been “resolved” without any form of authentic resolution." https://goodnewsmag.org/2017/09/another-complaint-no-consequences

The thrust of the article is that "just resolutions" are not helpful and I happen to agree with him. My take on the situation is that there is not enough common ground for The United Methodist Church to move forward as one body because we no longer can agree on how we should function!

Institutionalized Hate

"Remember that we approached the brink of schism at our last General Conference, and the delegates there rejected that approach, pressed the pause button on sexuality-related legislation and asked the whole church to pray while the Council of Bishops and a newly appointed commission could discern a better way forward."

The delegates "pressed the pause button" and allowed institutional hate to continue. The delegates all decided to allow the UMC to continue to hate and oppress GLBT members in order to prevent schism. Not something to be proud of!

Why does UMC allow members to hate and persecute others? Why is this ugliness tolerated at all?

I am ashamed of the UMC.

Change comes slowly

Hang in there, Brother. Change will come. We have a lot of people resistant to change but it's still coming.
