Bible reading responses

I have always been troubled by the responsive "The Word of God for the People of God" after the scripture readings. Usually I am just beginning to think about what the reading means, when my thoughts are interrupted by this response. It seems as though I should not try to contemplate what the Bible really means, but should accept the rote reading without thought or question. This makes the reading meaningless for me.

Seasons are changing. North of the equator, we turn toward fall and winter, while in the southern hemisphere spring and summer approach. Through all the changes of seasons and life, God is with us; we are not alone. United Methodist Insight affirms this hope, and brings news and views intended to help discern the signs of God at work in the world through God's people.
