Banner Down
Found this morning our immigrants welcome banner vandalized.
As I discovered the torn string and the broken holes, I felt something in me being torn and broken. Gathered up the damaged banner and brought it to a neighborhood UPS store. The owner fixed it for free. As I was struggling to put this up again, a couple of passing by cars honked in support.
When I saw the banner risen up again with its broken corner and damaged edges, I felt something in me being risen up. What a way to do this in the midst of Lent!
In a small yet still life-giving way I was blessed to experience what happened at the very first Lent and Easter. Nothing can knock and keep love down forever! No matter what the power of fear and hatred does to it, no matter how broken and beaten up, no matter how deep it is nailed and killed, love always rises up again. Its brokenness binds up whatever that tries to break it apart and its death brings life to whatever that tries to deny it.
So a Big Thank You to whoever has done this! You will live again someday as Christ has died and risen for you too!
