Advocacy messages on the sign outside the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. frequently get noticed. Recently one such notice garnered attention from a series of Twitter users that led all the way to a celebrated Broadway composer.
As the U.S. Supreme Court considered a case over whether President Donald Trump can rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, the General Board of Church and Society posted a line from the hit musical "Hamilton!" The sign quotes the title of one the musical's top songs, "Immigrants. We Get the Job Done."
A photo of the sign was tweeted and retweeted by fans of Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical's star and creator, and eventually was sent to him. Mr. Miranda responded with a couple of "emojis" showing his approval and then retweeted the sign himself, according to the Nov. 21 issue of "Faith in Action," Church and Society's email newsletter.
