Four years ago at this time, United Methodist Insight moved from an inspiration to an online reality. Its mission was sparked by church leaders at all levels who expressed a strong urging to gain more varied perspectives from around The United Methodist Church: to provide a forum for United Methodists to discern together God's will for the global denomination's future.
Today, the original dream of United Methodist Insight has been realized far beyond our expectations. As of the time of this letter, Insight now reaches some 4,200 readers each weekly through email and social media. Most of our followers are United Methodist leaders seeking to prepare themselves for the challenges facing the 2016 General Conference.
Now we come to you with an urgent request for your immediate financial support. In our quest to expand our reach as widely as possible, we have almost exhausted Insight's 2015 funding. Only a few hundred dollars remain to cover our December operating expenses. If no more financial support materializes by Dec. 31, United Methodist Insight will be forced to cease operations.
All of us who contribute to United Methodist Insight with content and funding would hate for our mission to end before we reach General Conference. That's why it's critical that we receive your immediate contributions while we search for additional longer-term funding. Any and all amounts will help!
To give online, please click on the button above right. If you prefer to give by check, please make your check payable to St. Stephen United Methodist Church and write "United Methodist Insight" on the memo line. Then mail your check to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 2520 Oates Drive, Mesquite, TX 75150. You will receive a giving acknowledgement for your tax records by either method.
As United Methodist Insight's founder and coordinator, it has been my privilege to serve the church by providing this open forum for the past four years. I am deeply grateful to those who have been primary benefactors, especially the Cook Foundation of Temple, Texas, and St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Insight's sponsor. I hope you, our readers, have found Insight's mission valuable, and worthy of your continued support. Thank you!
Cynthia B. Astle, Coordinator
