No more meetings!

I do get global church. I don't think they should have been traveling in the first place. The cost was one of my first objections.

We took a hurricane last year and 10 days with no power, an natural disaster. Our people are broke. Those who do have a job work for the National Park Service which own the island. If there's a shutdown, they're the first to close. We are still raising money and paying apportionment.

It looks awful for handpicked elites to jet off to Germany (all in the name of being fair and global) while people like my congregation (with it's share of gay members) struggles financially, while hurricanes destroy islands, while churches try to be churches.

We need to deal with the issue. No more meetings.

Meeting

They are charged with coming up with a proposal to resolve a very serious problem within The UMC. Can't do that without meetings. If it was up to me I would lock them in a room until they came out with their proposal.

“All of us are theologians. The minute we say something about God, we are speaking theology. Young voices, unheard voices, need to be nurtured in the practice of reflecting on faith and the wider world, and this event will do just that.”

– Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, quoted in "Theology Slam," a new young people's ministry of the Church of England.
