Ganta Hospital sign
Global News Network-Liberia reported that bats have invaded Ganta United Methodist Church Hospital and halted its normal activities. Ganta Hospital is a project of the United Methodist Committee on Relief, supported financially by $300,000 in donations.
Hundreds of bats swarmed the hospital building, overwhelming hospital staff and others in the area and disrupting hospital activities. GNN correspondent Kannay Ziamo said the bats previously roosted in big trees around the hospital, but on Tuesday morning flocked in large numbers in and around the buildings.
"Correspondent Ziamo said hospital officials in collaboration with the Ganta City Corporation have finalized plans to hire the services of experienced and accredited hunters to gun the bats down," reported GNN-Liberia.
