A celebration of the full vindication and restoration of Bishop Minerva Carcaño and the healing of the California Nevada Annual Conference is planned on Sunday June 9, at 7:30 pm in the Annual Conference 2024 plenary hall at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. The event will also be livestreamed.
The event marks the return of Bishop Carcaño after a church trial last September at which she was acquitted of four chargeable offenses according to the Book of Discipline, the collection of United Methodist Church law. California-Nevada's ethnic caucuses rallied behind the bishop, the UMC's first Latina episcopal leader, over the course of her unprecendented 19-month suspension while the charges were investigated and finally adjudicated by a church court.
The Celebration of Justice will include music from Cafe Agape', the Joint Korean Choir and the Tongan Choir, liturgical dancers from Daily City UMC, various speakers and a time of prayer.
This time of celebration is sponsored by the following Conference Ethnic Caucuses: Cambodian, Chinese, Formosan, Filipino, Fijian, Hispanic, Hmong, Korean, Tongan, Vietnamese, and Pacific Islander.
