Immigration Response Banner
The humanitarian immigration and refugee crisis that has unfolded along our border with Mexico has engaged the hearts and minds of United Methodists within the Rio Texas Conference. Many are concerned about the welfare of persons who arrive at our border, seeking asylum. Thousands of children remain separated from their parents, and the prospect of extended detention together looms for others. United Methodist agencies and committed church members are giving of themselves to minister to and journey with these persons and families, even as we hold a variety of opinions on what is a correct policy and approach to immigration.
We have created a webpage to share this work, to share what our people and their partners are doing and learning, what their needs are in their ministry, and how others can help. As the situation on our border changes, often daily, this webpage will change as well. If you want to stay up to date on the latest developments, you are welcome to subscribe to our special email list. You can sign up using the form on the webpage.
Finally, please be in prayer for all involved in this issue, that together we might find a path of wisdom and compassion as we respond to Christ's call to walk with vulnerable people.Visit riotexas.org/immigrationresponse
