A new on-line worship gathering centering LGBTQIA+ voices and their allies is being hosted by the Rio Texas Reconciling Ministries Team, Rooted & Rising: Queer Rio Texas UMCs & Allies. The first gathering will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, on Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom Link.
The March 20 event will feature the Rev. M Barclay (they, them) as the guest preacher. enfleshed, a nonprofit creating and facilitating resources of spiritual nourishment for collective liberation, will be the mission focus. M is the director and co-founder of enfleshed, found on-line here.
Our featured musician will be Paul Harper (he, him) offering three selections:
- Welcome by Laurie Zekman and Mark A. Miller;
- Abundant Life, lyrics by Ruth Duck and music by Marty Haugen; and
- Go Now in Peace by Natalie Sleeth. Paul is a professional musician, educator, and member of University UMC in Austin.
The gathering will be hosted by the Rev. Richard Bates (he, him), retired Rio Texas clergy.
