Conferences' World Series Challenge a Big Win for Haiti

We all know the Cubs are World Champions, but the people of Haiti and those who lost so much from Hurricane Matthew will be the real winners thanks to the generosity of donors from Northern Illinois to East Ohio and beyond. 

Bishop Sally Dyck and Bishop Tracy S. Malone thank everyone for your outpouring of love in support of the World Series Cross-Conference Challenge for Haiti.

The numbers are tallied and the home conferences of this year's two World Series teams partnered together to raise more than $70,000 for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)! NIC churches and individuals came through for their team raising $37,497!

"Not only did the Cubs win the World Series, but Northern Illinois demonstrated great generosity toward Hurricane Matthew relief for Haiti and a few other designated areas. We also congratulate East Ohio for a great job, too. It was an incredible series and an amazing outpouring of care for those in need! Congratulations, Northern Illinois...and East Ohio!" said Bishop Dyck.

"Thank you East Ohio Conference for your faithful response and extravagant generosity in support of the World Series Challenge for Haiti. We also celebrate the faithful efforts of Northern Illinois," said Bishop Malone, whose conference raised $32,656. "I celebrate East Ohio's longstanding commitment to mission throughout the world. May God continue to bless our churches and our ministries as we seek to be disciples of Christ who transform the world."

Thank you again for your tremendous generosity and spirit-filled giving that will restore hope in Haiti by helping the country recover fromHurricane Matthew's devastation.
