NOLA Wesley Foundation, the United Methodist campus ministry to Tulane and Loyola universities in New Orleans, will spend Holy Week 2018 building a house for a family in Mexico, thanks to the generosity of supporters.
The Rev. Morgan Guyton, co-director of NOLA Wesley, posted the campus ministry's fundraising results on Facebook March 18:
"Friends, we have achieved our goal and gone well beyond it. I'm amazed at your generosity. Not only did you support our fundraiser on Facebook, but two of you supplemented with offline $1000 checks.
"One thing I hadn't shared before is that in the beginning we were only planning to pay for the construction of half of a house in Mexico. Our Mexican partners were fine with that because we were a small team and we thought asking each of our students to raise $1000+ was an insurmountable goal.
"Because of raising $5600 plus our plant sales revenues which [are] about another $1000, we will be able to pay for the materials and labor for a full house. Thanks to you a family will have a house and workers in the Mexican construction industry will have critically needed wages as they supervise and work alongside us.
"This is not anything I could have imagined. You continue to surprise me. Please like and share this post as a testimony of what God has done through the generosity of his people."
The March 24-April 1 mission trip will be led by Rev. Morgan Guyton and his wife and co-director Rev. Cheryl Guyton.
