Further Thoughts on the Texas Abortion Decision: Framing the Question

Abortion restrictions are not about abortion

They are about stigmatizing women. The abortion rate of the human race has consistently varied from 1/4 to 1/3 of all pregnancies throughout our existence. The variation is due to economic factors which inform women as to whether or not they can provide for a child. Thus the only valid method by which government can prevent abortions is to provide for fuller employment and living wages. If that is not being done - for instance by certain politicians who proclaim themselves to be "pro-life" while making it harder for labor unions to organize - then the maudlin term "pro-life" itself is revealed as but another politician's lie.
