A press release announcing the event stated: "We are watching Russian aggression against Ukraine in horror and in fervent prayer. Most of the people who suffer in war are innocent women and children. The number of refugees fleeing Ukraine has reached over 1.5 million. Key cities are being bombed and civilians are losing lives, homes, livelihoods. Despite bullets and bombs, Ukrainians are staying strong and united.
"What began as an effort by United Methodist Women, now United Women in Faith, in 2015 to bring Ukranian and Russian women together to talk peace has evolved into a permanent regional forum called the Women’s Peace Dialogue Platform. Members of this unique forum will speak about the situation, support, and actions. Learn firsthand information about what is happening on the ground, how the Peace Platform members are helping in a real war situation, and why women’s inclusion in all peace processes is more critical than ever.
"The quarterly Voices from the Field events feature leaders sharing their work and life stories, daily challenges, hopes, and dreams. This conversation series highlights United Women in Faith initiatives supported by Mission Giving—initiatives that significantly improve the lives of women, children, and youth down the block and around the world."
