Which Jesus Are We Talking About?

Jesus, the Christ

We close our prayers, "In the name of Jesus Christ." This is both bad linguistics but also faulty theology. Jesus was his name, Christ (christos, greek for "messiah," "annointed.") was his title and mission. We may say King John, or John, the king; but not John King. Ought we not be more historically correct to say, "Jesus, the Christ?"
