St. John's United Methodist Church in Quezon City, Philippines, posted on Facebook a response to recent disaffiliation efforts by some members of its congregation.
"Bishop Ruby Nell M. Estrella, resident bishop of the Manila Episcopal Area - The United Methodist Church, wrote a letter in response to the Resolution of Secession and Withdrawal of Membership of several members of St. John Methodist Church Cubao from the denomination.
"Bishop Estrella said that those who withdrawn their membership from St. John United Methodist Church (SJUMC) no longer hold any leadership roles in the church and should relinquish rights to administer SJUMC's properties, offices, vehicle, and bank accounts which are held in trust for the UMC as per the trust clause mandated by the United Methodist Book of Discipline."
