It said that Titanic's orchestra played right up until...

Reminds me of the Titanic story of how the orchestra kept playing as Titanic slipped into the sea; In the above post, all the usual religious churchy clichés describing warm fuzzies, while the irreconcilable issues remain unaddressed and unchanged… This article reports a now highly traveled group of a well-meaning 32 has completed a long dream vacation, to many lands, to meet behind CLOSED doors (as directed by their handlers) to discover nothing new, to develop no workable plan which will not put us in the same boat as we have been in for years.

We Americans, who are the backbone and financial hub of the UMC, are a free people who demand openness in our leadership. We demand it of school boards and congresses. We are suspicious, even cynical of closed doors. By contrast, UMC leadership believes closed meetings are the answer. They intend to come down the mountain with tablets inspired by the committee and endorsed (pre-ordained) by bishops, and that we the lowly members will praise the new way forward and all shall be well. Me thinks the chances of world peace are higher…

I challenge the bishops to publish the final total cost of this charade. 32 members and “staff” - Lots of planes, hotels, meals, limos, etc, have been used to circle around the world in a sinking ship.

Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove "When Jesus said, 'I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly' in John 10:10, he wasn’t thinking about a victory for those who have used religion to fight back against the gains of the civil rights movement. Jesus was inviting all of us to work together for the vision at the heart of that movement — a beloved community where all people created in God’s image can thrive."
