we are already in schism.

Let me repeat: we are already in schism. There are jurisdictions, annual conferences, bishops, and clergy who refuse to follow umc rules and jusicial court decisions. They also refuse to officially accept long held doctrine and teachings. This is schism; certain parts of the umc in regions, bishops, and clergy do not recognize certain fundamentals of the umc. And these fundamentals have been upheld numerous times.

An official split of the church would not be schism. It would be a split.

We have been in schism already for many years.

Seems trivial

Respecting the dignity and worth of all is not contrary to "certain fundamentals" at all. Instead to say it is is a group hallucination by people out of touch with reality, like all fundamentalism.

i understand.

While we disagree about what Christian fundanentals are, you have illustrated why the umc is in schism.
