As a traditionalist, we can agree on one thing

The United Methodist Church is dying and has been almost since its inception. It is now drowning in theological plurality that is not only conflicting, but also contradictory, leaving the church nothing to say in particular. I agree that it is time for all of us to move on to something new.

Yes build something new!

Its time to build a new Methodism focused again on the United States. We need a new expression of the faith that fully accessible to all. We need a new Church that is focused on social justice, the environment, and most importantly telling that Jesus is Lord and his table is open to all. I would LOVE to have our first GC in Minneapolis in 2020. Its just time. We spend decades winning full inclusion of Blacks and Women. Enough! Full inclusion and we do this through a new expression of Christ. It is our way and other Methodist communities have prospered. We don't need to be the richest or the biggest or the most right. We just need to build a community of love.

I agree.

There are way too many divides between the two main theological groups in the UMC. Over and over again the general conference has consistently expressed the mind of the global church to be at odds with many US Bishops, US clergy, reconciling groups, and fully affirming parishioners. Sections of the institutional UMC have already made decisions that indicate that they will not and currently do not accept and follow the current rules and doctrines.

These are not small issues of disagreement that can wallpapered over- they are fundamental disagreements about the mission of the church.

Why do we need to keep this turmoil and disagreement going?

Why Wait?

What is stopping you? It sounds like the church that you will form will match the nation's political agenda, too. I thought the church was supposed to be counter-cultural? Enjoy your new club, wherever it may be.
