GC2020: Tree Gazing and Leadership

Back to the future?

I found it interesting and enlightening, albeit somewhat tedious, to read through the legalistic expositions of the article. Taking a look at a couple quotes: viz. "Conferring a position of authority doesn’t necessarily make one a leader" "Effective leaders are not made by credentials; they exist because people choose to follow them." While the idea: " Where God has chosen leaders such as Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, Solomon or the ultimate leader, Jesus, people follow" ; history also abounds with other 'leaders' that people followed raising some deep concerns about God choosing them(e.g. Adolph Hitler). Or reversing the first quote; 'Conferring a position of leadership; doesn't necessarily make one an authority'(or by connection, chosen by God). To me, a great deal of the difficulty that has come into place is that there are those who do not wish to accept that there are some in positions of leadership and/or authority and would prefer to go back to 1828 and re-instate the Methodist Protestant church which was put in place as a response to negativity about how the church was being governed and particularly the power and authority of the bishops.
