His Free Gift of Life!

You said “Yes, there are a few (very few) isolated proof-texts in the Bible that can be used to oppose same-sex marriage.” When a person sees only what they want instead of what is really there, it is so tragic. God's grace is a free gift, but so many leave it on the table because they refuse to do what Jesus said “Repent”. They insist on living a lifestyle in conflict with the teaching of the Bible. Dietrich Bonhoeffer called grace without repentance “cheap grace.” Is that all these people need? No! A loving God wants us to accept His free gift of life!

Nothing to disagree with here

I saw the same thing Guyton saw in the Pre-Conference District meeting to discuss the various plans for the shindig which just concluded. A woman at our table - we were encouraged to sit by people we didn't know to encourage diverse dialogue - she looked exactly like the elderly woman on the plane with Kal Penn in "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo" who accused Penn of being a terrorist - she may have even been that woman, for all I know - was aghast that Baptists, Pentecostals, Holinnessers, Megachurchers, et al already looked down on UMCers and after this would do so even more. Essentially the only argument was a marketing one. No one seriously cares about who's LGBTQ and who isn't except for the ones that W.B. Yeats described thus in "Slouching to Bethlehem:" "...The best lack all conviction, while the worst / Are full of passionate intensity..."
